Cancelling a booking in a building that does not allow Airbnb
I have to cancel a booking with a host because I found out a couple of days prior to arrival that the building does not in fact allow Airbnb rental. The host refuses to refund because of the strict cancellation policy, but I feel I am unable to stay as it is against the building rule. Airbnb is now involved in resolving the problem. How can I strength my case of a full refund?
If you got Airbnb involved, @Sophia144, you should be granted a full refund - it is the host's duty to make sure they obtain all required permissions to host. In this case, they clearly haven't.
@Sophia144 if you have provided Airbnb with the proof you found that Airbnb stays are not allowed in that building, then I am not sure there is more you are supposed to do.
As @Marzena4 said, let Airbnb support do its work, and you should be granted your refund.
