Cant understand your pricing

I booked through airbnb today, see the screenshot at https://i.imgur.com/jZGXrL3.jpg.

The left part of the screenshot is my mobile phone. The right part is my laptop. I used both to book the exact same reservation and compare the price.

I have two questions:

- the service fee is USD 55 on my phone, USD 45 on my laptop. Why?

- the price per night is announced at USD 38. Then just below, the price is written USD 43 x 9. Why?

At this point, the way airbnb handles the pricing is muddy at best, and I have the feeling of being scammed.

Thanks

Hi @Arnaud190  🙂

That looks really strange!

This is just a community for mostly hosts and some guests like you. We are not airbnb and can't tell what went wrong.

Why don't you try and contact airbnb and ask them why there is a difference in the booking fee.

You can find a contact airbnb buttom in your reservation.

Best, Sandra

@Arnaud190 , I cannot speak for the serivce fee. I am not sure why they would be different. Maybe Aribnb charges more on the mobile platform?? The price is $38 per night because that is what you are paying after the 12% disount.

$43 x 12% off = $37.84 (rounded to $38)

@Arnaud190  You pose an interesting issue.  Thank you.  It appears that the difference is in the Air BNB service fee so I suggest you contact Air BNB to find if there is a difference of fee for mobile versus laptop or is this some system glitch.  Here is a guide for contacting Air BNB.

Please post what you find out.  I know all would like the answer.

Thanks Emilia, I didn't realize that. It's all a bit confusing, since there's no explanation about where does the $38 number comes from, so I didn't guess that it's the price **with** discount applied, but **without** additional charges applied.

Thanks A LOT Linda (it really saves time), I contacted them through messages, I will let you know.

So I had a quick reply from an AirBNB staff, who asked some details, and then forwarded all of that to the technical team for investigation.

2 days later, the technical team can't reproduce the issue:

"
[...] our Tech Engineers and I was advised that they are no longer able to determine why the service fees are different. This is due to the fact that the dates are no longer avaiable since those dates are now blocked due to the reservation you have made. Our tech teams are no longer able to recreate the exact conditions which must include the dates in question.
"

So if ever you guys notice the same problem, and want to understand what's going on, don't book, contact them before. Bye!
