Change of amenities for booked guests

In order to abide new (5/23) city bylaw that will not allow short-term rentals for the legal suite in my home, I am decommissioning the suite.  Instead of a kitchenette, there will be a “coffee bar” with sink and fridge.  I will have a good quality hot plate and toaster oven available for guests who booked the suite thinking it would have a kitchen.

I notified guests of the change and most were accepting.  However, one guest asked about a discount for their stay since they will not be getting what they thought.  Functionally, there is no change.  The suite is small - only big enough for 2 people - so the hot plate and oven should suffice.   My prices are already very competitive and don’t feel a discount is necessary, even if I could figure out how to do that.  I know that cash-back is a bad idea, but how about a gift card? Or treat basket? Flowers? I have no idea what they would like, allergies, etc., so remain uncertain about what to do.  I would like to do a little something as I appreciate the potential inconvenience these changes could cause.  Do you have a suggestion?

@Corina58

city regulations are out of your control so I would not offer any discount if they decide to keep the reservation.

If they don't like it they can cancel and find another apartment with a kitchen ( if there is any due to the new law) . I would offer them a full refund if they decide to cancel.
