Hello! I'm wondering how to adjust a cancellation policy to an existing reservation. My guest has graciously agreed to the changes, so there's not a problem there, but the settings don't seem to allow it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please let me know. I'm fairly new to Airbnb and don't know my way around too well, so details on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Unfortunately Airbnb does not allow you to change the cancellation policy after a reservation is made, even if both parties consent to it.
Yes I also want to change my cancellation policy on an exisiting reservation. My guest wants to cancel a booking for the end of December 2017. I have a strict cancellation policy but because the booking is 7 months away, and at a time I am confident I will rebook, I am happy to refund the entire reservation.
When the guest cancels will ABB refund them only 50% and if so how do I refund them the balance?
Thanks in anticipation.
@Anonymous I think @Cynthia-and-Chris1 has answered your question. Why would you want to change the policy on an existing reservation?
@Jo65 as to your question, what many hosts do with cancellation of reservations made way in advance is to offer a refund if the dates are re-booked. So what happens is the guest cancels, gets 50% refund, your dates are open and then re-booked, and when the dates come you are paid for both the new guest and the cancelling guest. You send money to the cancelling guest. You cannot send money that you haven't received so it has to wait until the booking dates.
Yes that makes sense. Thankyou.
