Changing which room I am hosting. How to show on calendar.

Hi

I have hosted for a few months and it is going well. I have one more outstanding booking this year after which I will change which room in my house I rent out. I have closed my calender for the decorating & moving period. However I would like to start taking bookings for the "new" room for some of December.

At present I have the original listing with these dates open and a note at the top of the description "BOOKINGS FROM DEC 2016 will be for the new listing - please contact me for details."

I have listed the "new" room with a note on the main picture (which is of the landing as I have none of the room itself as it is being decorated), saying the room is being decorated at present and will be available fo booking from December 2016, as well as a note at the top of the description "AVAILABLE from DEC 2016 - contact me for details."

For this second listing the calendar has all dates blocked. I was about to mark the days available but thought that would be having dates on 2 listings with only one room available.

Would this be OK? if not, on which calendar should have the dates? Or any other suggestions?

Thanks

Nikki

@Nikki39  I think I understand what you are trying to do.  You want travelers who are searching to be warned that the pictures of the current room is not what they are going to have after December.  First of all, a traveler will not see the second listing as the calendar is blocked and so the room will not come up.  So from the perspective of the traveler, they would find your current listing and experience uncertainty with your "warnings".  I would imagine your new listing will be similar in function to the current listing.  When you get an inquiry for the current listing for dates that the new listing comes available, you could explain the situation.  I doubt the traveler will be put off by the change.  Bottom line, I think your effort to be transparent to travelers can cause confusion.

Thank you

I have taken other advice and it seems to agree with you. So I am putting up the new listing with an open calendar and closing the "old" room calendar. I think is clearer. I will just have to say pictures of the room available once decoration is finished.
