Check your home insurance coverage. Our provider dropped us immediately when we started with Airbnb

Our home insurance provider dropped us immediately when we notified them that we were doing Airbnb. This happened even though our rental was for only 30 days.
Also if you are a condo owner, check your strata rules. A hefty fine may take away any profits.

My insurance company wouldn't cover short term rentals either. Evidently most don't. Luckily my insurance agent called around and found one for a reasonable price. We decided to upgrade to a million dollar umbrella policy just in case someone gets hurt and sues.

Absolutely - check both your lease/building terms and conditions/local laws etc to ensure you are ok to host.

In additon, ensure you have the right insurance. A lot of companies don't insure for AirBnB, but a lot do... It's just like any change of use, you need to be sure you are allowed to do it and then find the right insurer.
