I live on my own, but let out bedrooms in my home via AirBnB. I'm concerned about what would happen if I suddenly became ill or had an accident. I was thinking of adding someone as co-host so that they'd have access to my account and could contact guests etc. to cancel bookings. However, I don't want the co-host to be sent messages or be contacted by guests from day-to-day, as it would be a nusiance for them.
Is it possible to do this?

@Debra261 Once you add a co-host to your listing, they do have access to all messages. However, they can turn off all notifications from Airbnb so they aren't being inundated by the day to day conversations. https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/14/how-do-i-manage-my-notification-settings
The best is to have someone close to you contact Airbnb to have any reservations cancelled due to Extenuating Circumstances should you become too ill to host.
Thank you Alice -and-Jeff0. That's helpful. Can Guests specifically send messages to the co-host rather than the host? I'd hate to have messages going astray because they were sent to the emergency co-host, who had her notifications turned off.

Have you had a look at the information on Airbnb Help that gives you information on how co-hosting works https://www.airbnb.co.uk/help/article/1243/whats-a-cohost - worth a look if not.
My understanding is that you and your co-host can both access messaging and you as the main host can choose payment settings etc.
