Confused by $1000 Guest Refund (coronavirus time)

Location: Silicon Valley. Date: March 2020 (Coronavirus startup time) . My guest stayed a few days and then, totally understandably, wanted to fly back to be with his family. No worries, he paid for the days he stayed and was refunded the difference. However, on the payout summary under the guests profile there is a line that says 'Guest refund $1000'  .   Who is paying this to whom?  The number is positive - that normally means that is a credit to me. But it is a positive 'refund' which could mean it's a payment I have to make. The number $1000 doesn't correspond to any pre- or post-booking sum of money.

Do other hosts have this issue and have answers?

My, now empty, airBnB is close to the big Kaiser hospital - and I've had recovering patients before - so I've offered it to hospital staff who might need to isolate - of even if they are fine and don't want to travel. No takers yet.
