I received this review last weekend. I have over 80 reviews and not once has this ever been mentioned. What's weird is my house is on a very nice street with no abandoned properties? We are in the city limits so there are some but they are few and far between. The street below us has a house that caught fire so it's all burned out and an eye sore but this makes it sound like every other house is abandoned? Prices have doubled and tripled in our area so there are a lot of investors coming in and rehabbing homes. She did have to drive through a lower income neighborhood to get here but I have a posting on the board about Pittsburgh neighborhoods and how they are a mix of races and income levels example one area has a dollar store on one corner, laundrymat on the other and a high end Italian resturant with the most expensive entree being $125 so it shows you the diversity there. She even mentions reading that. Anyway do I just let it go and let other reviews push it down or answer and explain the area or just say something quick? If you were booking a place and read this would be a turn off? Am I being over sensitive?
She did leave 5 stars in every category though.
Great house for our girls weekend! 10 of us traveled to Pittsburgh and really enjoyed our stay at Nina’s. The outdoor space was really nice. We were surprised that many reviews didn’t mention the surrounding neighborhood- we were a bit skeptical on our drive to the house but honestly once we were at the house we felt very safe and the neighborhood was quiet. Don’t let this keep you from staying in this awesome house. There are some abandoned houses right near by as well - again it didn’t deter us from being outside or feeling safe we were simply a bit surprised about that since they weren’t present in other reviews. Nina also leaves a great explanation about the city of Pittsburgh in the house. I would definitely recommend this house!!
We used to get similar comments when our neighborhood was under rejuvination (usually coupled with a 4-star in "location") @Nina204 . My response would look something like this:
"Thanks XXX for your feedback. As our listing notes, we're in a diverse neighborhood that is excitingly being revitalized and offers a diverse range of people, places, and houses in various stages of reclaimation. Tragically, one house a few blocks over experienced a fire just before your arrival, but thankfully no one was hurt. For clarity, that is the only home in our neighborhood that is unoccupied and our neighborhood, as you mentioned, is extremely safe and quiet. We're glad the 10 of you were able to enjoy your big-city trip to Pittsburgh! "
[snarky comment: ... and let me guess, a group of 20-something white women who all live in sub-division suburbs...../end snarky comment]
Oh how I hate those pastors... @Nina204
" we could hear if someone was passing by our open window in the middle of the night and was talking loud.... but it didn't bother us as we slept with closed windows" ,
" the apartment is in the city center so we could hear the traffic from the street in the morning... but it didn't bother us"
I mean, if it didn't bother you then why are you commenting ???
@Nina204 I'm not sure I would respond, unless you have something specific and definitive to say about X house recently caught fire and is expected to be renovated by XX, it's overall a positive review and it might be better to let it drop as time goes on rather than call attention to it by a response.

Thank you for all your input. I got a laugh. I do feel if I don’t say anything it looks like it’s spot on but will give it a day or two to think about it.
