I recently saw an ad for a place on kijiji and I contacted them for more information. I was a bit wary as I know there are scammers on kijii. They replied saying that because Airbnb only allows daily rent apartments to be published online, they can't list their apartment on there. They went on saying the can only send me the reservation request using Airbnb's services. They also said I will be securing $2400 with my credit card and that I will be charged upon arrival with Airbnb blocking the funds on my credit card to secure and confirm the reservation. Finally, they tell me that if I want to rent it I will have to send them a copy of my id or passport, my name and how long I will be staying for (4 months).
It sounds like the only thing I would be giving them at this point is my personal information and the payment will be through Airbnb. I was just wondering if this reservation process is common or if it even exists on Airbnb. Am I being scammed?
