Drug dealing homeless people for the second time

Drug dealing homeless people for the second time

We have a local person staying at our air bnb. Tons of suspicious looking people / cars coming and going all day. This is the second time this has happened in the past month. There are similarly priced air bnbs around with vacancies, I imagine they are having similar issues. Any way to prevent this from happening? Both guests had no reviews and were new to air bnb.

Worried about trying to kick them out, worried about letting them stay. Thanks

@Jarrad5  What kind of vetting process do you use in deciding whether to approve a booking? Why are you accepting bookings from locals? And why are you allowing multiple people to come and go from the house? No one should be entering who isn't on the booking.

Can you tell people that no one is allowed in the unit who is not on the booking?

And how do you figure out if people are local?

@Jarrad5  Yes, of course you can. In fact most hosts mention in their house rules that no unregistered guests or visitors are allowed on the property, and reiterate that when guests book.

Airbnb doesn't have some swat team that will come deal with unruly, objectionable guests. You have to maintain and take control of what goes on in your rental. As soon as any unwanted activity is observed, you should act on it.

You start by sending the guest a message. If there is no suitable response, you will need to take action.

Of course you should never put your safety at risk, so you should have friends or family you can call on if a situation feels intimidating for you to deal with on your own.

You can't always tell if people are local. Some guests have their location listed on their profile. And hosts message with guests and ask them questions about the reason for their visit, etc, to try to determine if these are guests they want to accept or whether the communication, or lack thereof, throws up red flags.

Are you using Instant Book, or do you require that guests send requests?

Hi @Jarrad5   The only listing I saw on your profile was an apartment that sleeps 8 with a posted nightly rate under $100, where you are a SH.  Is that the listing you are referring to?  I am confused by your post and profile picture without a SH badge and your question seems like a new host sort of issue.

All that said, I agree with @Sarah977  about vetting guests and usually locals without reviews are a red  flag.

Drug dealing with homeless people is a complex issue that highlights the intersection of poverty, addiction, and crime. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to see homeless individuals involved in drug dealing as a means of survival. While some may turn to drug dealing as a way to earn money to support themselves, others may be coerced or forced into it by others. In Swindon, the issue of homelessness and drug dealing is particularly prevalent. According to the article **[Link removed in line with the Community Center Guidelines], the number of people experiencing homelessness in the area has increased in recent years, and many are struggling with addiction and mental health issues. It's important to address the root causes of homelessness and drug addiction in order to provide sustainable solutions for those in need.
