I had a quest check out this past Saturday. Although I've been fortunate to have guests leave our rental neat & tidy this guest went above and beyond.
I have already refunded to her a portion of the cleaning fee as I couldn't, in good conscience keep it.
I thought another good gesture would be to expedite the return of her security deposit. Is there a way to do that?
TIA

Hello @Marcie5,
Airbnb doesn't actually charge and hold the security deposit. Only if a host makes a claim and Airbnb allows the claim will the guest be charged.
Sometimes Airbnb may put a hold on the guest's payment card for the amount. If they do, that hold is released by them shortly after checkout. It's handled exclusively by Airbnb and the host doesn't have an input.
How does Airbnb handle security deposits?

Thank you so much Steve. I should have known that's what they do. Airbnb has been so great to work with and EASY!! Guess its the "other site" I was thinking of. Wish I could get everyone to book through Airbnb.
The lack of a proper Security Deposit, if you need one, I would have thought would be a major negative.
I would like to point the fact that guests are probably awaiting this security deposit returned or cancelled, to write some review about their stay. So, it would be nice to know exactly when is this deposit resolved by AIR, in case of no damages? For instance, if AIR is waiting 14 days for claiming (or not) damage, that's also a period for leaving review? This means that whenever security deposit is set up, you could say by, by to review? Am I right?
