Facebook and the profile.

During one of the classes, they mentioned that having your facebook connected with your profile, it would make your profile pop up to people you are friends with when ever they are searching for a place to go.

Was this correct?

I haven't connected Facebook with my profile yet, because I don't want all of my friends to get updates and all of my activities with Airbnb.  Is this Correct?

Please help me understand how this feature works and how it benefits me.
