Fee refund

Hi all,

 

I had a room booked last week (9/20) for a business trip. I did not go, but never officially cancelled. I was in contact with the host and he knew I wasn't coming and I was NOT eligible for a refund. However, I should be able to get the cleaning and guest fees refunded, right? 

 

How do I go about this? I can't find anything. My concern is that I can't get this refund since I never cancelled the reservation through airbnb.

You are correct, @Dan253.  In order for the system to know you didn't use the booking is for you to cancel.  Since you did not do that, the system thinks you used the reservation.  I suggest you message the host and request a refund of the cleaning fee.  This is something the host can do.

The host said that he couldn't do it, but that he would vouch for me that I did cancel.

No reason - it just never occured to me. The reason I did not go was because I was sick and busy with work. So I wasn't in the mood for anything extra.  Figured letting the owner know would be enough.
