Let's convince airbnb to provide a filter for "no pets." We both have really bad allergies, especially around dogs and cats, but there is no way to filter out search results to ensure that there is no pet(s) living in the home in which we'll stay. Thankfully most hosts that do have pets mention this in their listing, but I don't want to waste my time reading through the entire listing searching for "dog" or "cat". I should be able to filter out the listings. The "pets allowed" filter option only allows for a filtered search result in the opposite direction.
I get your frustration…
I also have asked similar features… The keyword filter (removed early 2015) and to display the icons or the message “Smoke not permitted”, “pets not allowed” on the app…Currently only guests using the website see this two…
Is kind of silly not having this filter, once all hosts need to mark on the listing if pets live on the property…
I would think this would be WAY more common. Why don't they include this? it would be so easy
I am horribly allergic to cats.
Absolutely agree- our son has terrible allergies and simply cannot breathe in a home with furry pets. This is a health issue and should be a priority for airbnb to provide a filter.
Totally agree. Hate to waste time looking at the pics of all the houses/rooms I like only to find out that it has a cat in the house. A filter should be provided for "No pets".
100% agree. This is the primary reason that I don't use AirBNB more often. It is too time consuming to focus search on Pet Free homes.
I second this request. My boyfriend has severe pet allergies so I would like to filter out any homes that regularly have pets. Seems like a reasonable request, and something that will ensure a positive experience for all invovled.
The strange thing is, the No Pets on the Premises rule is one of the conditions for the business ready label, but you can't search for that either.
In theory, a small suitcase should appear on the listing, like the instant book bolt or the superhost medal, but looking for that in Paris, a huge market, in promising price ranges, I did not find any listing.
I'd prefer too, that people could search for all of these conditions in both ways: smokers allowed or not allowed, pets, kids, breakfast, parties etc Yes or No.
Does this functionality exist yet?? I spent the past few hours trying to locate properties which do NOT have pets on site and have not had pets on site (at least since current ownership/furnishing). I selected a property which read 'NOT SUITABLE for pets' only to receive a message upon check out, stating that a dog lives on site. After contacting owner, they tell me they do occasionally allow guests to have pets.
Back to the drawing board.....
PLEASE improve functionality on this front. It would be greatly appreciated!!
I guess you will be unable to find properties with no pets of any kind ever. Especially not full unit rentals. In most countries it would be illegal to deny a service animal, if the owner does not live there as well. That would limit you to rooms only.
And even then , hosts, who personally hate dogs or are afraid of them, may accept a guide dog, as it's the decent thing to do, the law is not very clear about exceptions allowing to deny them and technically they are not considered as pets. They are working animals.
With all kind of competition and others trying to hang a discrimination lawsuit around airbnb's neck or at least cause bad press, it would be rather stupid to create a filter allowing to target people most likely to discriminate against service animal holders.
I know this reply is coming a bit late, however, it may be worth mentioning. We provide danderfree accommodations which precludes service animals from being accepted because we cater to folks with allergies. I just googled "airbnb hervey bay dander free" and our accommodations with the danderfree house rule popped up. I just tried a search for Brisbane and had a result with "allergen free" in Brisbane - who knew there was a Brisbane in California - anyway, if you do a google search (airbnb + dander free or allergen free + location), if there is a listing catering to allergies, it should show up. Beyond that, you are right, a filter would be most helpful!

I totally agree. I am allergic to cats and searching for a place in France is a nightmare as I cannot filter out if they have cats, and everyone in France seems to have at least one! WAKE UP AirBnB this is a health issue for travellers and you should include that filter. I hope someone sees this.
@Lucy131, that seems a hopeless task, finding a cat free lodging in France. I had to laugh, as I'm allergic too and I have a parrot, a very strong reason to wish too have no cat. Sitting outside on a evening getting slowly cooler after a few days of heat, reading forum posts, I just realised that the neighbour's cat had smuggled himself on my lap. That's Paris, a residency of several buildings with commin gardens, the cats roam where they like. On the countryside it's just normal.
This is absurd that they don't have this obvious feature built in. I've called and requested this several times, as I'm sure others have done. They have the ability to add this feature with very little effort. It's very inconvenient for people with allergies to have to try to figure out whether the owner has pets for every listing.
AirBNB, do you care to explain why this hasn't been added yet?
