Madness

How many regions have had zilch Covid19 cases in their communities across all of France?

Those facts need to come to the fore.

Why should innocent lives be subjected to lockdowns?

October 28 (GMT)
Updates
  • 36,437 new cases and 244 new deaths in France

France and Germany announced new lockdowns Wednesday in a sign of how Europe’s strategy for containing the coronavirus has buckled under the pressure of mounting cases and deaths.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced tough restrictions. A national lockdown, which will begin Friday and last at least one month, will require people to remain inside their homes while restaurants, bars and shops deemed nonessential will close.

German...

We will be hopeful but probably not expectant that the second lockdown will end on December 1st.

Although it may well be extended till 2021🙄

@Dale711  My heart just breaks for the families of the 36,000 people that have passed away this year in France due to Covid. With a further 244 just yesterday .

At least schools and work places are still open so some life can continue.

@Dale711 yes, there is a lockdown in place from tomorrow.

@Helen427 there is hardly anywhere with zero cases and hospital emergency units are filling up. It is no longer a walk in the park, but still allowed 1 hr excercise per day and going to the supermarket, so we will survive another week. Probably need to cancel the dinner party on Friday and do our shopping at Lidl though😀 will survive that ordeal too !

France's new lockdown
  • The new lockdown runs from first thing on Friday until December 1, nationwide.

  • Social gatherings are completely banned.

  • Residents in France will be required to fill out a form if they go outside their homes.

  • The only acceptable justification for going outside their domiciles will be for essential work purposes, medical appointments, to help vulnerable individuals, go for a walk near your house and to do grocery shopping.

  • Non-essential businesses, including restaurants and bars, will close.

  • Work must be carried out remotely wherever possible.

  • University classes will mostly be carried out online.

  • Schools and creches, as well as factories, farms and construction sites, will remain open.

  • Travel between regions is banned.

  • France's international borders will remain mostly closed and mandatory, rapid COVID-19 tests will be given to arrivals.

  • EU borders will stay open and French citizens can come back into the country.

  • Visits to care homes will be permitted.

  • Funerals will be allowed to go ahead.

  • Most public services will stay open.

  • The new restrictions will be reassessed every two weeks.

@Dale711  It’s good to see that Western European countries are learning the lessons from the first devastating wave when thousands and thousands died and thousands more have been left with long term health impacts from Covid.

Certainly in the UK the second wave has been much faster in terms of how Covid has spread.

We can only hope that our health services have the staffing, beds and equipment to cope with the devastating affect of Covid.

It’s always a tough balancing act between managing our health and keeping our economies going and we have all had to make tough sacrifices to protect the old, vulnerable and ill in our societies.

@Dale711

Who decides who is an "Essential Business" in France?

Everyone has the fundamental right to work & earn a living freely without Governments and others interferences.

Who are the nameless people ( lawyers/ politicians/ academics) who signed the original decisions off without factoring into account that a "Coronavirus" is not comparable to the Boxing Day "Tsunami" which was a State of Emergency in Indonesia /Asian areas?

Tsunamis are a natural event also known over the years prior to it's worldwide use in the 1950's era, when peaceful relations took place btwn USA & Japan, were previously called "Ocean waves/ Sea Waves/ Tidal Waves/ Floods" in historic newspaper archives prior to then.

The Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004 where they understandably had to " Build, Back Better" & where that phrase was also used for rebuilding homes & buildings is non comparable as a State of Emergency than a Coronavirus in 2020.
