Hi All,
We are fairly new to airbnb/hosting (since 8/2018). Yesterday, Airbnb called me to wanting to cancel a 9 night reservation for a guest that was about 25 days away. Our cancellation policy is moderate so I asked why they couldn't just cancel without penalty. The CSR said that because the guest had opted to make 2 payments, I had the option of either keeping 1/2 of the payment or I could refund all of their amount. While I was dissapointed to lose the reservation, I felt it was the right thing to do to OK the refund. As of this morning, the reservation is still on my calendar. I am annoyed that the reservation is still there because we want to allow for someone else to book.
Should I ask airbnb whats going on? Should I contact the guest? Or am I better off waiting. Not knowing is killing me. I'm afraid they may wait another week and cancel.
Also, I don't remember reading anywhere about 1/2 payments from a guest being an option for guests to keep regardless of the cancellation policy. Is this correct?
