Hi everyone. I need your advice Re Guests who misplaced the extra keys and left themselves out in the middle of the night. There was also a lockbox outside the house where they took the key at the check it time. They could have easily left it in the lockbox.
they ended up calling the locksmith at 3-4 am and broke both locks at the entrance door to get inside. The door was damaged so was the frame and we make the decision to change it eventually. After the case was open with host protection It’s been more than a month since Airbnb is sending emails asking for more pictures and reasons of why the locks needed to be changed. We have provided 2 estimates and eventually the invoice and they keep asking for detailed pics etc. I am wondering if we should have filed a police report. Overall an unknown person broke in our house without our knowledge or permission. The guests didn’t even bother telling us about it until 3 days later at the time of check out. (Late).
we have been in some unpleasant situations before but nothing like this and by the looks of it Airbnb is giving us a hard time.
what would you do next.
