Guest has told me she needs to cancel her reservation but doesn't do so. I've asked her to cancel.

Guest has told me she needs to cancel her reservation but doesn't do so. I've asked her to cancel.

A guest has a reservation in Sept, booked well in advance. This week she has indicated two of her fellow travelers are backing out and she needs to cancel her reservation. I've indicated I understand how these things go and said it's ok to cancel (we have no penalty for cancellation). I have also asked her to find her reservation and make a cancellation there. She has not responded. I am reluctant to cancel the reservation on my part fearing the dates will remain blocked and I won't have an opportunity to accept another reservation. What is my next step?

@Jacki22   Assuming your messaging with the guest is on the Air BNB message system, with the guest message of intending to cancel, you could contact Air BNB and request they cancel on behalf of the guest.

@Jacki22  It's not just that the dates will remain blocked if you cancel- you'll also lose your Superhost status. Have you explained to the guest that if she doesn't cancel, that a refund will not be issued (even though you apparently have a flexible cancellation policy, if the guest doesn't cancel at all, the funds will come out of her account 24 hours after check-in date) and that you also won't be able to rebook the dates as long as her uncancelled reservation is holding those dates?

@Sarah977 Thank you for your suggestions. I have contacted the guest again with the info you outlined. I've also reached out to Airbnb.
