Guest inquiries who try to send personal information

Hey all!

First time post, but something I've been wondering for a while.

I have guests in the past who try to give me their contact information before confirming a booking - some are harmless (they prefer to talk on the phone) some are not (they want to talk to me to work out a back-end deal for the rental).

I've always been cautious with this, but was wondering if there is anything against hosting standards for engaging in these types of conversations? Like if I try to spell out my number so the "harmless" type of guest above can call me, will I be penalized?

Just curious if anything knows any more details!

@Demetrios0,

I would much rather keep all communication via the ABB platform. That way, eveything is documented in case there is a misundertanding later on.

You probably have a good idea about how to vet a guest, @Demetrios4  and you are able to tell a "good guest" but I personally don't see an upside to providing contact information outside the booking process.  Over the years, Air BNB has established filters that can pick up on the spelled out number or the picture of a phone number, so there is some risk to the host.
