Guest showed up intoxicated

So we had our first weekend hosting guests.  One guy who booked stumbled in the walks, could hardly make it up the stairs. He was clearly intoxicated or going through withdrawals. We were very uncomfortable having him in our home. We found out later he is a known drug user. What would have been the best course of action to take? Could we have asked him to leave?

@Rachel-And-Andrew0   What an unfortunate beginning.  I'm so sorry.

If this had happened to me, I would have refused to check the guest in and called Airbnb immediately.   I might have also contacted law enforcement.   No, make that would have.  He could have easily have caused a problem given his altered state.

It is very difficult to ask someone to leave who is not with it, unless you have worked in mental health or law enforcement yourself and have the right skills. You might have to work on a plan of action in case this happens again. Like preparing for other emergencies, fire/flood/drunk and disorderly!
