An instant book guest informed me in advance that he would be going to work daily during his week-long stay. He wrote that he needed to be in his office by 9:00am. However, during his stay he never left the space, instead watching TV, ordering take out meals, etc. In the future how can I better identify future guests who are less likely to treat our space like solitary confinement? On a warm spring day why not go outside???
@Shawn65 That's a difficult one- all we can do is take guests at their word, as well as reading their reviews from other hosts. Pretty hard to know if a guest is misrepresenting their intentions or outright lying before they actually arrive. And @Helen3 has a very valid question- did you ever ask him why he told you one thing but did another?
With more than a year of hosting now I've learned that one should not rely upon the "plans" communicated in advance by guests. Weddings that were to be attended, tours of local attractions, or any number of activities outside the rental space may evaporate, with the sedentary guest eating, sleeping and viewing TV until check-out--thems the breaks it seems.
