Guests leaving before end of stay

Hi I have had a father and daughter check in with me for a week. The reservation was made a few months ago.

My listing states that I have a cat and dog on the premises. Since they made the booking they have found that the daughter has some allergy problems.

They decided to chance it and stay. I wasn't aware of this allergy problem. After being here for 24 hours they have decided to go elsewhere as the daughter is suffering.

They have not said anything about a refund. I have told them that if I could get other guests from tomorrow I might be able to return some of their fees.

I want to be fair to them and myself. I am not sure that I would get other guests at such short notice and I don't want to loose a big proportion of the fee.

What would other hosts do in this situation?

I would be grateful for any help.

Kind regards

Margaret

Hi @Margaret258

Just let the guests sort themselves out. You can't change your situation and the guests have decided their action. No doubt they will look into a refund and this being the case it will be dealt with by your refund policy. Thats why you have one.

If this was a "fair" situation, then the father wouldn't have risked it and let you know about the allergies months ago when you had time to rebook.

@Margaret258   Let Air BNB earn the fee you pay by handling the cancellation and if any refund is due.  Be sure to communicate through the Air BNB system, including summarizing any verbal communication you had with the guest.  After that, you may not get all the money you expected, but that is also the nature of this business.  A booking is not a guarantee of income.  Just like in retail when a customer returns an item.

In reviewing the guest, besides being disappointed that they left early and you are out some income, would you recommend him?
