Host accepted changes but want me to cancel

Okay. So i've book a trip to vietnam this 22-31, really close i know.

But then my mom got hospitalized and is due for surgery today so i had to change the date for my reservation to MAY 22-31, i am not really in the mood to go out of country when my mom is in that kind of situation....

Continuing, i tried to change my reservation date, there are some fees for that around 3USD or something and i paid for them. I totally understood if the host just denied my request so i can cancel on my end but they accepted my request, charge my card and is now asking me to cancel...

What is the best thing to do? Should I just leave it as that or cancel on my end?

When your mother is ill you might be able to cancel with the "extenuating circumstances" policy. You will need to contact airbnb and you must provide proff of your mothers illness. You can also cancel the normal way and get your money back according to the cancellation policy you agreed too when you booked the place. I don't understand why your host would agree on the new dates and then afterwards ask you to cancel. I would contact airbnb in order to find a solution.
