Host and Guest Sustainability

I just have officially registered with our local municipal government for a Short Term Rental Licence. It cost $1,000 CDN.

When we went to get $2,000,000 liability insurance that includes Short Term Rentals that is required by the by-laws, it made our insurance policy jump from $1,200/year to $1,750/year, all CDN. That's only for 180 days of bookings! If we go over that amount of bookings it will cost around $4,200/year CDN! We book around 265 days/year. We had to change our insurance broker because she couldn't find a company that will economically insure platforms such as Airbnbs'. Is there future help for hosts in this regard or do you know of or have an insurance company that is affordable? It's not our fault as hosts that these insurance companies are afraid of platforms such as this!

@Brian883 whatever cost you incur will, if you have researched the market carefully, apply to all hosts so just whack it on your nightly rate.
