Host eviction

I'm getting evicted because of Airbnb i i have two kids by myself with no where no to go..Airbnb should not allow people to add a listing of it's not an owner or an notarized agreement between the landlord and tenate

However it is not Airbnb's responsibility but yours as the tenant to make sure you are allowed under the terms of your lease to sub-let before you put a listing on Airbnb @Amina116 

 

Did you check your lease/HOA terms before deciding to do STRs?

 

Airbnb advises hosts to do this before listing on their platform.

@Amina116  I'm  unclear, are you saying you are a guest in an airbnb and are being forced to leave because the host was renting it illegally?  Or are you saying that you are the host who was renting your arbnb illegally and now your landlord is evicting you?  If the first, that is very unfortunate, and you should contact airbnb and  have them help you find another place to stay.  if the second, well, you knew what you were doing was against your lease and now you are paying the price, the fault is not with airbnb or your landlord but with you.

@Mark116   She has quite a few reviews for a room she was renting on in an apartment.  She cancelled her most recent reservation for this month, probably because she found out that she was not allowed to sublet.    So I am guessing she is the latter.

I didn't know it was a form of subletting someone set this up for me to earn extra income I figure if I can have guest in my home for no more than 2 weeks it was ok but I wasn't knowledgeable about this information now I am n ur right now I have to pay the price I just at my landlord could of gave me a warning 

@Amina116  You could try explaining this to the landlord, telling him/them that you already took the listing down and didn't realize that you were breaking terms of your lease.  It might  not work, but if you've been a good tenant, and it seems you were a very good host, so probably you were...maybe they would let you stay.

@Amina116  I'm sorry you find yourself in this situation. As @Mark116  suggested, maybe sit down and write your landlord a letter, apologizing and saying you really didn't understand that renting out a room was considered to be subletting and that you never would have done it if you had realized-that you weren't trying to do something underhanded. Perhaps he'll have sympathy and let you stay.

But of course renting out a room is subletting- you have been charging for people to stay who aren't the legal tenant.

Hi, sorry to say, but I would have done the same thing your landlord did if one of my long-term rentals were subletting. It is hard to believe you didin't know because I have never seen a contrac without that clause... Sorry to say, but no amount of apologies or excuses would make me reconsider, the trust is broken, how is he going to know that you won't do it again...

 

My suggestion, in case you really want him to reconsider is to show him your account, show him the amount you made, and give him that amount. He might see that as a gesture of good faith.
