Host in Mexico requiring passport copy?

Hi there,

We're travelling to Mexico next week and staying in 2 Airbnbs, for the first there are no issues, however for the second the host has requested a copy of my passport "as required by Mexican law". Can someone please confirm if this is actually required by Mexican law? Since the first host doesn't need it and I can't find any info anywhere I'm not quite sure whether he needs the full photocopy of my passport (which I'm not too comfortable with) or just the passport number (as I see other countries require).

Thanks in advance

Hi Nicole and Jennifer

I am on thesame spot now. Did you have any answer?

Thanks in advance.

I'm a Mexican host, and I have no knowlege of any mexican law requiring a passport, not my airbnb host friends require one...
