Host is asking me to check out early

My host is asking me to check out at 8 am instead of 11 am, since she made a mistake and is expecting customers that day. Shouldn' her instead offer

  a. the new guest to check out late

b. Offer me  a"host payment" for the hours lost.

I pay $210 per day to stay at the place

Thanks

Is it going to inconvenience you, @Manuel63? If no, be nice and leave at 8. If it is an inconvenience, explain this to your host and ask them to fix it. Jumping to a 'pay me compensation' isn't the way I'd do it, but we're all different.

@Manuel63  I don't think that is fair, 8am is VERY early!  I'm not sure what kind of $ you should expect for 3 hours, but certainly, if you checked out 3 hours late many hosts would charge you a fee of some kind.  Me, I'd be more annoyed by the demand to leave early than I would want $25 off my bill.

>>8am is VERY early!<<

It's subjective. I leave home for my (office) job every morning at 6:30am. At the weekends I'm up and out by 7:30am.

The question is whether it's an inconvenience or not. The compensation culture often makes people demand something for nothing.

Thanks, no issues on business travel but this will be over a Sunday long weekend with my wife and two  kids, and yes will be an inconvenience, and yes $40 will not make  this go away but I feel that the host should incur in some type of compensation so this behavior is not repeated.

I have yet to ask a guest to leave early. Unless I had some emergency repair which needed to be peformed, I can't imagine another scenario where I would ask this of a guest.

When I had a couple mechanical issues with my space, I promptly submitted a refund (guest did not request anything). I'd probably provide some sort of refund in this case too.

@Larry116  Agree, me neither.  I have been very happy and relieved on occassion when guests leave at 8am or 9am, instead of 11am, so there is extra time for a same day change over, but I've never asked anyone to leave early, and I can't imagine doing it.

@Manuel63  The host can ask you to leave early, but if that's not amenable to you, you don't have to do so. There is a check-out time that you agreed to when you booked, and the host can't just arbitrarily change it because she wasn't organized about her bookings. If I were you, I would just tell her that you booked her place with a clear understanding of the check-out time, and that while you will certainly check-out on time, you can't check out at 8AM. If she needs more time to clean for the next guests (and make sure you leave it clean and tidy, so she doesn't have some big mess to contend with), that's up to her to arrange with the following guests, not try to boot you out early. I wouldn't make it about a refund.

Use the Airbnb messaging to commnicate with her- in case it goes sideways, Airbnb will be able to see a messgae stream about the issue.
