Host's horses damaged my car during stay.

Hi All, 

During a recent stay at a guest ranch, I woke in the morning to find my car had been used as a scratching post (or something) by at least one horse. There was slobber all over the car (probably licking off the salty rain from a rain storm), and horse hair stuck under a bent side mirror. Nothing was broken. However, there was a deep scratch on the hood caused possibly by the bridle or a tooth or something. I have photographs of everything. I haven't been to an autobody for a quote or anything yet, but if it becomes expensive how should I properly proceed?

@James560 Not knowing the full circumstance, my first reaction would be to contact your auto insurance company.
