Host wants me to cancel my trip

I booked a one night stay with a host who has a "strict" cancellation policy. It was confirmed immediately but the next day the host told me there's a problem with her computer and the room was double booked and asked me to cancel it(myself). I'm totally fine with finding another apartment because there's still plenty of time before my travel date. However I'm aware that this host has strict cancellation policy and I'd lose 50% if I cancel it.
If I can't convince her to cancel it on her side, is there anything I could do to avoid being charged for the fee I shouldn't be responsible for?

Hi. Sorry to hear this has happened to you. In this instance it is the hosts issue and they should cancel your booking as they are unable to host you. If you have this convesation recorded in the AirBnB system I would raise the issue directly with them and I am sure they will not charge you any fees. Good luck.
