Hosts with criminal record

Are their rules for hosts with criminal backgrounds? I was about to rent a place and found out this guy is a registered sex offender!

How did you come across this information?  Is it possible that you researched the incorrect "John Doe"?  I can search my husband and find 20 different persons with the same name.

Your question is suspicious and almost scary that you would go to such lengths to research a host in such depths when you are likely booking a STR and may not even have direct contact with that person.

Almost seems like stalking hosts.
