Hot tub pump damage

Hello,

We are new hosts and have had a great experience so far.  We just had an instance where the guests were using our hot tub and notified us of a beeping noise and it not working properly.  When we investigated we found the motor extremely hot and found a piece of rubber (similar to an earplug) in the strainer.  It possilby could be the string for the earplugs were sucked through and seized the pump. How do handle this, can we use damage deposit for this?

You can certainly try to claim - be aware that AirBnB will need you to provide proof that the guests damaged the motor if they are to find in your favour. (Or of course unless the guests offer to pay for the repair).

Remember that you need to notifiy AirBnB within 48 hours of guest departure that you will be making a claim.

It may help to have a specialist repair company write a note describing the damage and how it was caused.

Hmmm, personally I think this might be a tricky one to claim off the guest’s deposit unless they have admitted it was their ear plug; it could very well have got in there on a previous occasion but was only triggered on the particular day.

I do hope you manage to sort something out so the burden of repair is not solely on you
