This seems to be a bug that several people are dealing with. Contact Airbnb customer service. Please let us know how you get on, as a courtesy.

Good practice whenever there is an issue like that is to first try to use another way to do the same thing. Use the website if you are using the mobile app. Change to a different browser ( chrome, Firefox, Safari). Try accessing fromone of those different methods from a different physical device such as move from and iPad to a regular desk computer.

There are many, many types of hardware and browsers in the Airbnb host service network, the software works well in some situations and not so great in others.

Best st of luck hosting!

Hello @Rachel-And-Edward0,

Thanks @Lisa7 for copying me into this. I have fed this back to the team, at the moment it sounds like there are a small number of hosts experiencing an issue with this across the CC, however it does sound like a temporary glitch or potentially a bug. Can I ask, following the great advice provided by @Bridget0, whether you are still experiencing this issue with the decline button? Also, if so could you let me know with browser you are using / are you using the app plus whether it is happening everytime you receive a request. This will enable me to pass more information over to the Airbnb Tech Team and get this solved!!

Thanks again and have a lovely weekend. 🙂

@Rachel-And-Edward0 @Lizzie...Hi there Rachel, I had the same problem last week, so it sounds like you are not the only one! I got onto my local help desk and told them my problem. In less than a minute the consultant told me to type another short message and try again and....bingo....it worked! So something in the system just seems to freeze every now and then. Obviously it's not a major problem with the platform....I guess a bit like your computer freeezing every so often.

As great as these help desk staff are, I just wish they woudn't be so secretive about what goes on......we are not going to steal the platform!!! It would be nice if they would sometimes just volunteer a bit of information that might make our job easier. I would like to know in advance 'how' to fix a problem rather than having to get it fixed......

Good hosting Rachel and Edward...cheers.....Rob

The decline button hasn't been working for me either the last couple weeks. Disappointing that this so many are affected and yet the bug continues.

I am using google chrome, and operate airbnb on the site through my laptop (not a phone app).

By the way, looking at the commenters above: What does Level1, Level 2, etc. mean?

Just adding a note that I also experienced this issue which persisted on both chrome and safari. Upon inspecting the source in both browsers the button had a 'disabled' html attribute. The only solution I could find was to use the mobile app to decline.

Hello @Eli6,

Lovely to meet you, I am sorry to hear you are having this problem.

[Edited] Reports of issues with the accept/decline button is a very popular discussion here in the CC, and if you use the search bar at the top over every page in the CC, you can see some of the threads. As you may have read in my earlier post here I am gathering information on this bug from hosts - as you have mentioned the browsers you are using, can I also ask when the last time it worked from your desktop? I am passing this all over to the team to look into further.

In the mean time, I would recommend taking a look at this thread as @Tewodaj0 (seen above) has found a temporary way of enabling the decline button to be clicked, which might work for you too. 🙂

Thanks so much,

Lizzie

This exact same thing is happening to me and good grief I have been tying to phone airbnb for blinking hours  I am giving up now because thanks to the adivce from someone I tried on my ipad and it has worked but for goodness sake we really should be able to decline as well as accept. I will try to get in touch with them agian tomorrow. I have to admit this is violently irritating I answered the poor woman about 12 hours ago and thought it was all sorted. BUMS!

@Clare5 Hi Clare.....If you wish to decline a booking request the first box you will see at the top of the page is a one line box entitled "Reason for Declining"  and you will notice that there are drop down, pre worded options associated with this box.....'Listing not available for the requested dates' etc: You must select one of those pre worded options before you proceed to 'Decline' and leave a decline message.

The system will not respond to you just hitting decline.....you MUST also check that reason box.

Hope you can understand that....cheers.....Rob

Morning Robin I did do everything really carefully because this is why my response rate was dropped last time I declined a request. I really do not think it was working - I did everything twice  - in "reason for declining" clicked on "other" then gave my reason and then clicked on decline again but nothing was appearing in my messages and it was still flagged as pending. On the advice of someone in the community chat room I tried on my ipad did exactly the same thing and it worked so I really do think there is something wrong at the Airbnb end and it would be lovely if it could get sorted out. Would you know how would I go about letting them know?

Thanks for your response it is great to be able to chat to people about it when it gets trying!

All the best

Clare
