How do I send money to a guest who asked to cancelled their last night and I approved it?

My guest had the opportunity to stay with family their last night at my home and I let them know that was fine. I made the mistake of altering their reservation myself (now that I have read some things on here). Anyway, the full amount was paid to me and deposited into my account. I requested to send money to them through Airbnb, but how does that happen? Does Airbnb do it then request money from me? Or does Airbnb have access to my account that they pay into? I don't remember authorizing anything like that.

Go to the Resolution Center and select the "send money" option.  Airbnb will send them money and take it out of your next booking.
