How long does it take for Air bnb to verify guest and confirm payment?

I have a guest with many issues. They are testing our house tonight the 23rd and would like to book on the 24th to move in on the 25th December. I am not comfortable handing over keys unless full payment has been made to Air bnb. How long does this process take?

I'm a little confused, the guests testing your house have made a booking for 1 night and you have not been paid. Or the guests are testing your house for free and you are not covered by airbnb's insurance.

Do not let anyone in your house who does not have a confirmed booking through airbnb, a confirmed booking means the guest has paid.

Yes this circumstance seems very unusual. So we are only letting them spend 1 night with US. Then if they decide they don't have an allergic reaction to our home they will book immediately. I informed them that we would not be handing over any keys until payment was received through Air bnb.

Hi @Tanya137 , What do you mean by "testing our house" ? Seems not proper Airbnb procedure to me, don't do this. They can book from 23th at Airbnb and pay for their total stay. Best regards, Emiel

I am not letting them "test" our house on their own like they asked. They will be staying here with us for 1 night. If they decide the house is suitable (allergies),then I assured the guests that keys would not be handed over until a complete payment was made through Air bnb.
