Considering adding one to my Airbnb, but not sure if it is a good investment?
@Heather155 Not required for short term stays...but longer term I guess it would be expected. Not sure if you can add that much more to your nightly rate though. Perhaps a small increase to cover the cost over the course of a year (or six months)?
I think it depends on the type of clientele your listing attracts. If you guests are mostly short stays with primarily adults, I would say a washer & dryer isn't really necessary. If your guests are longer stays (a week or more) or tend to have children (who get messy easier) a washer & dryer may be a good selling point. Either way, it's tax-deductible (up to IRS guidelines) so that's win?
Thank you so much!
@Heather155 Agree with Cynthia and Chris...really depends on what type of listing and guests you're attracting. For short term, don't think your guests will "need" a W/D...nice to have but not a must. However, I would say for guests staying 6+ days, it's a nice amenity to have (I know that if we're traveling and staying somewhere for 6+ days, we would like access to W/D). So far we've had a few guests that stayed 5 days (only been hosting for 3 months) and they did not use the W/D. However, we have a number of guests booked in the next fews months that will be staying for a week. Now they will probably do laundry 😉
Good luck!
@Heather155I completely agree with the other opinions. In my case I often host guest who are on a 2-3 week safari holiday. My town is a stopover town and gateway to the Okavango Delta. Most of my guest stay for about 3 nights. They are always so happy to see the washing machine, and I even supply a bit of washing powder. I have realized that most of them did not even know before hand that I do offer a washing machine. Because they do not read our listing information before booking! I do not have a drier, but there is a washing line right at the back door of the cottage. I have also put a foldable clothes drying rack in the cotaage should they prefer to hang items indoor. My house is on the same property, so should it rain I will most certaily offer to tumble dry some clothes for them. Greetings from Botswana M
