I dont require government ID for my bookings and I just LOST a booking because guest was told I did

I had someone request to book my place and I sent a pre-approval. They had 6 reviews so I felt comfortable. Also, in my listing I do NOT require goverment ID. The guest ended up booking elsewhere as they couldn't book my place without providing govt ID, something which I didnt ask for. I figured they must require this for all bookings now, but apparently not as the person was able to book something else, so I have just LOST a booking, costing me $$$

Anyone else had this issue?
