Is it legal to mention a minor child in a review and give details about gender, age etc?

Hi,

My guest just left today and it was a good enough experience...except one loud hang out from 2 am till 4 am. I was very upset and I tried to be understanding even though I mentioned in the house rules that quiet time should be after 9 pm if it's a school night. And now the guest has mentioned my child in the review. This upsets me even more. He was not loud and did not bother her at all. He should not be part of this at all. Please advice. Thank you 🙂

@Roxana37 - there is nothing illegal about mentioning your "young son" in their review.  It really is such a small item in this person's description of their time with you that I wouldn't sweat it.  In the past, Airbnb would err on the side of removing both reviews, which would mean that your review of her would also be removed.

THank you so much! @Alice0&Jef

The AirBnB space is separate from our home though. We never bumped into our guest or disturb with any noise.

@Roxana37 - it really doesn't matter what the set up is of your home or host situtation, there is nothing illegal about mentioning a minor child in a review from either the host or the guest.  If a guest came with a baby to your home, you might be included to say something about the conditions with this infant (like if it cried for hours during the night, like say from 2am - 4am that disturbed your and your own child's sleep) - that would not be illegal either.

Thank you, @Alice-and-Jeff0

Let's put it this way:

Do you ask your hotel if there are any kids next to your room before you book it? Or do you complain about it on your hotel's website and put their names on there as well? All hotels welcome children. There are a very few ones in this whole world that say adult only and usually you want to be on an island or something.

Do you ask your airline if there are any kids on the plane and what their names, gender, ages are? And then complain about them with their names next to your complaint?

You go to all these places knowing that there might be kids there.

All of these are shared spaces as is AirBnB.

Should I mention that my neighbours have kids, too? They have noise potential, too, right?

BTW, my neighbours do not have cildren.

My home is suitable for infants and children. I expect the small children to be noisier.

My child is beyond the noisy stage. My child doesn't need to be publicized.

Thank you for your time. This needs to be addressed though.

@Roxana37 You haven’t seen irritating until you’ve seen Zac Jr on a Redbull.

His Daddy thinks it’s funny to drop of Jr with a Mountain Dew and some Sour Patch kids but I’m telling you, you are blessed by Baby Jesus.

Mention the babies by name but they are the next generation and I will protect them with my last breathe.

‘You know it’s hard out here for a Host’

Thank you @Rene-and-Zac0. My child is very well behaved and the review does not state anything negative about the child. The guest gave one too many details than I am comfortable with.

@Roxana37 btw, also, I think you are putting way too much appreciation to the idea that ABB "verifies" guests. I think you should treat all guests as the strangers that they are. ABB mostly cares that the ccard charge clears, other than that the guests could all be the man in the moon for all abb knows
