Keeping all host-renter conversations within the AirBnB platform?

Hello all,

We have rented a home through airBnB and have requested more details on the listing (ie: exact address). The 'host' has given us the contact details of her niece who will be our contact there. My concern is that this takes all of our conversations off of the airBnB platform, which is the primary reason we use it (and the justifiier for us to pay airBnB's fees..).

Is there a requirement to keep the conversation within airBnB? How can I keep it that way? Are private emails valid if ever there is a dispute?

We have been protected in the past as airBnB refiunded our money due to a very difficult host, the only reason airBnB sided with us was that the email chain clearly showed the host was unreasonable and at fault.

Thanks in advance!

DJ

@Daniel-J0  I would keep all contact within the AirBnB system personally for all the reasons you mentioned. The host needs to make the niece a co-host so she has access to all the AirBnB messages. This protects him and you. The exact address should be listed on your reservation confirmation or is he saying it's different?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply!

No the address is not complete, when you click the map it drops a pin but it is the generic area but not the exact location.. we didn’t realize that it was not the actual address until after bbooking.

I have requested for the co-hoster to move our conversation back to Airbnb. You answered one of my questions here about co-hosting, hopefully they will move it back. Airbnb does not require booking related conversations stay in the platform?  Will Airbnb accept private conversations if there is a dispute?

thanks

DJ

@Daniel-J0  They will not for the most part. I know What's App will definitely not be accepted. It all depends on the case manager you get for the most part whether they will or won't, so why chance it. The address not being accurate is an issue. I would contact AirBnB about that. Every listing should have the correct full address listed on your confirmation.

It could be that you are not shown the full address until the 48 hour cancel period has ended?? My listing waits until then to show guest the address

Also, you can always cut/paste any message directly into the thread, many of us do that for backup
