Longer payment clearance times from 1 day to now 7 days!

Has anyone else recently found Airbnb payout clearance times have changed? Up until recently my bank payments were taking a very efficient 1 day clearance time which was great. Now they are taking a whopping 7 days to clear! Why the apparent backward change? Have Airbnb changed their bank or banking systems or bank location for Europe?

I asked these questions which were not addressed in their answer only suggesting it was my bank which I very much doubt. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Hi, yes I have this issue to. My payments also changed from the next day to several days later. Also it use to appear on my bank statement as Airbnb Payment. Now is shows as Citibank. I contacted Airbnb and was told they had made no changes and to contact my bank. I contacted my bank and they don’t know and Citibank don’t reply.

Thanks Halina. How very interesting. This is exactly what I told Airbnb that the incoming credit info had changed and that it was listed as a 'Faster Payments' transaction previously (which is why it only took one day to credit our accounts), but it now appears as a Citibank giro credit, which obviously takes around a week to credit our accounts! This is a retrograde step which can only mean either Airbnb are holding ontomour money to earn more  interest, or the banks are holding it in order to make more money.

This means someone took the decision at the Airbnb end to change the payment transaction type, and we hosts were not warned or told. How can we budget effectively if they change the payments system at will with no advice? It is regretful and not really acceptable.

All this simply undermines our confidence in Airbnb for not being open and communicative, and also compromises the Airbnb customer support staff who also may not have been advised. This is very poor business practice.

For Airbnb to say nothing has changed is plainly wrong. This needs to go to a higher authority within Airbnb as I have suggested to my Airbnb contact.

Thanks for your help Halina.

One reason I preferred Airbnb was because of the quick payments but since changing to Citibank it a good week before I get any money. I think the company are going to lose a lot of business now including myself who will be looking for a new platform to advertise my holiday cottage

I don't blame you Chrissy. Confidence is being eroded and this is plain stupid and bad business practice which goes against all the good efforts made within the company.

I realise we are now being hoodwinked.

Thanks for your reply Chrissy.

Are you all getting paid by "Citibank Ireland Financial Services", "Citibank Eire", or "Citibank Ireland"?
