Misuse of washer / dryer

Good morning fellow hosts, I am looking for some insight on misuse of washer and dryer. We have been hosting since last year and until recently we've never had any issues with people laundering and drying sandy items until this year. The last two guests admitted to misusing the appliances but not the last one. The latter one was fully explained the consequences of such misuse along with signage posted above the appliances. There is also a sign for the laundromat. She is disputing that it wasn't her and the sand filled lint tray must have been left that way. What is the first thing you do when you use a dryer? check the lint tray! I know it clean since I was doing the bed sheets the day prior and we had just taken apart the dryer because of the previous guest. How do you monitor the use of your washer and dryer? Should I remove access to the machines or limit them to longer stays, if so should I include mention it in my description? I am also concern that she will leave a bad review in retaliation.  I appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

@Valerie-and-Andrew0   Since you are literally surrounded by sand and your guests come to enjoy the beach I would think that sand is a constant problem for many parts of your lovely home.  I don't see anything in your posted rules about washing sandy items, so you might start by adding that.  Also, do you have any alternative rinsing areas for especially sandy items?  If so, adding a picture of this along with a caption reinforcing the need to rinse might be helpful.

Hi Linda, thank you for the mention about the house rules, I will add it in.   We don't have a laundry tub, but maybe an outdoor setup would be ideal for this situation. I appreciate your feedback. I'm not trying to be petty with this situation, just want my appliances to have longevity 🙂 Have a great day, Valerie

@Valerie-and-Andrew0   My suggestion- make a sign that says "Important! Shake all sand out of all items outside before putting in machine. Thank you." Laminate it and glue it to the doors of the machines.
