Must I inform of doorbell security camera

Must I inform of doorbell security camera

I am planning on installing an outside security camera. I saw a few comments somewhere that mentioned advising guests that there's a security camera on site. Am I violating some rule by having an outdoor security camera? Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of a security camera, to advise everyone that there is one?

I just read a listing which informed the guests of their cameras, I think that is really good.l Will also alert guests who are planning on bringing unregistered extra guests not to book with you!

Definitely say you have exterior cameras.

I think this woul only be necessary if the cameras were inside the house common areas.

I found the privacy note !  "Always be mindful of your guests' privacy. Fully disclose whether there are security cameras or other surveillance equipment at or around your listing. Make sure you are aware of and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws."

When was this privacy note created? I am only asking because I am trying to establish if my neighbours have installed their cameras which are "around my listing" before this rule came into effect. Also my listing being close to the strip? Gosh..where do I start? every street light has a camera; Every cop car that is within the house vacinity has a cameras; the stores..I feel really bad for the listings ON the strip who have 24 hour cameras from all nearby buildings; street lights, casinos ( just look up^) and stores. impossible to avoid! Now I really feel bad for the Vegas guests too, who in their privacy efforts will avoid visiting the Strip or getting in a cab..I wish we all disclose all cameras to the guests from Australia tho! ( featured answer)

In other words having 24/7 surveilance IS applicable to all federal, state, and local laws. Every governmet and private building has cameras that are not being disclosed upon entering them. Every business site has the right to undesclosed surveillance.

1.So who does this 'disclosing of cameras' really serve?

2.and for what purpose other than the topic in the featured answer and host concerns of smuggling in extra undocumented and free of charge people ?

If it is privacy concern..how are guests OK with going to the Las Vegas Strip which is every angle every inch 24/7 surveilled but shy to enter the site of another private building where they have purchased a legitamate contracted business?

You don't have to for cameras outside - but it is a really good idea to have it in your description as it will mean anyone who even thinks of smuggling an extra person in will think again Just mention it is to ensure the security of the property, etc.

I thought all cameras had to be disclosed? I have searched the Airbnb site, but if you try to search "terms of service" it doesn't come up. Does anyone know where I can read the actual language? Thanks.

So that ring bell information must be something new. You must dosclose it ! And yes please do post the link with the rules where it states outside ring a bell needs to be disclosed AND  how can you tell the DATE THAT REQUIREMENT WAS POSTED ON THE HOST SITE? I haven't seen it before; are the dates of the added changes recorded? It's kind of important in my case; my guests got me on this.I havent reviewed them..Any links and suggestions are greatly appreciated! I like to stay informed. Thanks!

My guests had the extra visitor/s at 2a.m and were not even responding for days if they were in the house themselves or not! so I see this unouthorised thug looking guy at my door at 2 a.m and multiple entries recorded by my smart lock; no response by guest in the morning; i ask airbnb to get in touch with them to see whats going on before the dispatcher arrives?triggered alarm on the first floor; their bedrooms are on the second).. So long story short -Guests were given 50 % off and one free night without my responce even ( i was only given an email post factum stating that resolution was trying to reach me for an hour and since they couldnt they made a decision without me; I asked has the resolution manager  left a voice message because I dont have any; didnt get answer to that; case was closed) I am still trying to bring it up however; its hard after its been closed once it seems. I have only postedon my listing  "house is secured" but not "with a ring bell outside that records upon push of a button!!" and you have a hidden surveillence ?? to detect extra guests, and mind it?? you must be hosted by a different airbnb 🙂 And the claim from guests that they disapprove of the device was not made at check in when I disclosed it to the guests but at check out! So that's exactly the opposite of what you and me were thinking about outside camera, isn't it?
