For a year, I have been complaining to airbnb that when you do a search for my city (Copacabana, Bolivia) there are zero results, when in fact there are 35 hosts in my city! At first airbnb ignored me completely and said there was nothing to be done, that they rely on Google maps. When I realized that the Google map is NOT the one posted on airbnb for my city, that the map is for a city called Capacabana, airbnb customer service told me they were investigating. But they just close out my support ticket each time and tell me this has been reported. But nothing gets done. I reached out to another host in my city and he said he reported this months ago and airbnb did nothing about it.
How are guests supposed to find my property if I am not even listed under my city?!?
Hello @Helder28 ,
But it is shown when using the direct link: https://www.airbnb.com/s?host_id=153620264
(turn map on upper right corner)
And it is shown here (searching Copacabana, La Paz)
https://www.airbnb.com/s/Copacabana--La-Paz--Bolivia/homes
Best regards, Emiel
Yes, but how many of your guests do you find by sending them the direct link? If you have to send a guest the direct link, it basically means you know them. Sorry, but I base my business on people I don't know who are looking for a place to stay in my city. If they can't find me when they do a search for my city, I don't really have a business, do I?
Airbnb has admitted the mistake on their end. But I've been waiting a year and nothing has been done to correct this.
i agree, but your listing says: Copacabana, La Paz
Searching on that shows the listing !
So there is initially something wrong in your listing location. This is driven by Google maps, i fear Airbnb can't change it, it's a Google thing. Maybe setup listing again and choose location in a way the "La Paz" does not appear in it.
BTW The direct link is simply on your homepage ("Go to map"):
https://www.airbnb.com/users/153620264/listings
You can promote your homepage outside Airbnb, like social media.
Hope this helps,
Emiel
The map on Google maps is correct for our city. It is not the same map listed for Copacabana, Bolivia on airbnb.
Do a search on Google maps for Copacabana, Bolivia and then a search for Copacabana, Bolivia on airbnb and you will see that the maps are entirely different. This is the problem I need fixed! I want the Google map to appear on the airbnb search page for our city, but it doesn't.
@Helder0 I agree, it's unacceptable. I have been to Copacabana and can attest to the fact it is a thriving tourist town with hotels and everything. Searching with "la paz" makes no sense - it it nowhere near La Paz.
Keep after them and feel free to paste this message into your next bug report. Perhaps others can chime in if they have been there too.
Thank you so much for your support! Exactly, we are four hours away from La Paz. Guests often write to ask how far we are from the airport and we tell them that we are hours away.
