My first guest took five articles from my house, two more children showed boyfriend showed up. 3 ex

Theft, bringing extra children, sneaking a boyfriend in after 11:30 pm parking his car in the woods. I have brought this to Airbnb, would like a response, in a message she sent, she said she would return the items last thursday. How do I get my items back, how do I make sure she does not do this to any one else who Host their homes. please respond. Lydia

Hi Lydia,

That is just terrible that this happened to you. I've been very forturnate and have had no thefts just things broken.

I discovered that if you have a twitter account go to @Airbnbhelp and they will get back to you within several minutes to a couple of hours.

This is the best way to contact them.

If you feel that it is an emergency for Airbnb call 855-424-7262

Good luck!

Julie

Lydia,

First, so sorry this has happened to you.  Some people can take advantage of hosts.

Second, you absolutely must review her so she doesn't take advantage of the next host.  Keep it to the facts - "The guest took 5 personal items from the home upon check out"; "The guest brought 2 children we did not know where going to be staying in the property and added another adult male guest during her stay that was not on her guest list" ; etc.  Then give her a thumbs down!  Also, I would go so far as to say that you would not recommend them to other hosts based on your experience.

Third, go to the Resolution Center and request payment for the items she took.  It is unlikely you will get them back and you can close the request for payment of the items if she does.

Forth, make sure you only contact her using the Airbnb portal.

Fifth, make sure you clearly inform guests in your House Rules that you need a complete guest list prior to check in and unapproved guests of any age are not allowed. Then if they do show up with extras, they can be removed from the property for failing to follow your house rules.  Ditto to making them agree to where to park - parking in the woods is not allowed.

Good luck and again, I'm sorry this happened to you.

Alice
