How can I avoid this?  The reason I have been declining requests is that I have a minimum booking of 7 nights for January as it is our peak season.  I am getting people booking for 7 nights and then in their message they are asking for 2 nights only.  So I have been declining.  If Airbnb took the time to read the conversations I am having with potential guests they would see that this is whats happening.  It clearly states that the minimum is 7 nights.

Any suggestions please??

Yes, @Kerry66, my suggestion is to accept all of those. They are actually booking for 7 nights if they accept your offer, so:

'' Thank you for the booking enquiry. As I have a 7 day minimum during this period, that is what I have accepted. 2 nights is regrettably  not possible. ''

Then, if it is a booking request and not an enquiry, (which means they will be charged as soon as you hit the accept button) ''If this doesn't suit you, you have 48 hours to cancel penalty free.''

.

Perfect. That's what I do. Whenever a guest wants some extra sausages (German slang) along with the booking I tell the guest that these sausages are not available and he or she has booked the place as offered in the listing. Then the guest may cancel or not - it's not my problem really.

Great phrase, @Ute42. I might have to start using it (although being born in Germany, I can probably own it...as they say).

Like @Sandra126 says, just accept the bookings. You shouldn't be dinged because somebody tries to sneak in the back door.
