My listing states a refundable damage deposit, however i didn't see it on the reservation

Someone made a reservation, the email showed the rent, the airbnb fee. but did not show that it collected the refundable damage deposit that was in the financial section of my listing.  How do I know if they (airbnb) are going to collect it.  This is my first time listing on airbnb and it is quite different from vrbo.  Thanks

Hi Kathleen, i saw on your listing you have entered a security deposit so if you entered that amount before the first booking was made you are covered by that amount.  Airbnb simply takes a permission on their credit card.  They do not transfer it to you.

Here is some further information.  https://www.airbnb.com.au/help/article/140/how-does-airbnb-handle-security-deposits

@Kathleen24 Just to be clear, the security deposit is not included in the price of a reservation therefore it is not refundable.  When making a reservation, the guest acknowledges you have a security deposit which is available to you in the event you make a claim for damages.
