My property is not showing up in the listing for my town

Hello – I am hoping there is someone within the Airbnb technical department who can solve the problem I have been contacting you about since last year.  I have initiated calls at least 5 times on this and so far absolutely nothing has changed.  I have called at various times of day to try to contact the best team, but nothing happens.

My property is located in Philo, CA **, US at ** Clark Road. But if one searches for homes in Philo, CA my property does not come up. Other properties do show up for Philo. If you put in dates that include a two-night stay, then my property does show up. However, I am losing a HUGE amount of business because I do not show up on either the computer or mobile when only Philo is put in the search field.

When you enter Philo and use the map, my property does not show up on the map. However, if you move the map the tiniest bit west, then it does. But it shows up in the wrong location, much further west than it actually is. I am guessing that moving my marker, which is currently $172, to more accurately reflect my actual location in Philo, it would show up when Philo was put into the search field.

There did not used to be this problem. It started sometime in the summer of 2018. Prior to that my listing popped up right away in Philo. I am in despair that I am going to have to give up having a vacation rental, which I have had for more than 10 years. I started before Airbnb even existed and when Airbnb started, I was one of the first in my area to list with you. Now there are 23-25 listings that show up when one enters Philo as the search location. None of them are me. I know there is a simple technical solution to this problem if the problem could only be presented to the person who has the skills.

I am hoping you will pass this message to someone who can help me. I would really appreciate it!   Kathy

@Kathy494,

This is not Airbnb itself, so you message will not be passed to somebody at Airbnb. I looked at your listing and performed a search and what you post here matches my experience: The listing (without filters like dates) only shows up when zooming in on the map and/or move the map. Probably because it is located just outside the range the standard map for Philo shows up.

If i search for "Navarro" (a place closer to your listing location), then you show up as nr 3 on page 1 !

To me it looks the location on search matches with your location in the listing. This is the link to the direct search, so you can check it for yourself  (turn map ON in right upper corner if not displayed):

Hope this helps,

Emiel

Hi Emiel - I very much appreciate your taking the time to review the situation and reply to my post.  Yes, I do understand this forum is not Airbnb itself. To save time, I used my most recent message to the company rather than creating something new for the post.  Yes, I know it pops up right away in Navarro. but the reality here is that anyone coming here is going to search for Philo, as that is where the wineries, parks, etc are that people are coming to visit. My marker on the map, currently showing $172, has always been in the spot where it is displaying now, but it did not cause problems before this summer even though it is significantly west of my actual location in Philo. The marker placement is screwy  in general because I can see that one of the last places that show up in Philo, is actually located about 10 km east of where it shows on the map!  I agree that the map is the key and have pointed this out to the Airbnb customer service people and at least a few of them have seemingly sent the message along to the tech team, but nothing ever gets done.  I know I am less than an ant in the system, but I was hoping that eventually someone would get to my problem as they worked through some digital "to do" pile.  But so far, nothing after seven months.

I have posted here hoping that someone might have insight into how to more directly get in touch with the technical people. I know this fix would probably take under 30 seconds for someone who knows how to make it!

Again, thank you for your reply!

Best regards,

Kathy
