Hi @Keri1,
First, you need to understand the difference between a "reservation inquiry" and a "reservation request".
Reservation Inquiry - for this, the guest is inquiring about booking your place and they could be inquiring with lots of other hosts. For inquiries, all you need to do is respond once via the messaging system and you response rating is not affected.
Reservation Request - if you receive a request, this guest wants to book your place and once you accept the reservation, it is confirmed. For requests, you MUST either accept or decline within 24 hours or your response rating will be affected. Sometimes you want to find out more from a guest and they take too long to get back to you. In this case if you are still not comfortable with accepting them, you will have to decline before the 24 hour countdown and explain that you need to decline as you require more information and you can ask them to resubmit a request or you can make them a special offer.
I hope this explains the response rating better for you.
