New feature totally overrides my preference for check-in, what gives?
Anyone else seeing this - is at bottom of IB message.
MY Preference:
I've seen the same and have the same concern as it seems to be telling them they can check in before my check in time!
@Gillian19 I wrote to my guest and told him not possible, he has yet to respond.
@Ange2 happened to me a few times before. My check-in time is anytime after 3pm, some people put 1-3 or even 12-2. I think it should be set up in the system that the check-in window that the guest chooses cannot be earlier than the check-in time that hosts already have in their listings.
Hello @Ange2,
Thanks for sharing this.
Are you finding this information is linked to the extra "Trip Information" option for Instant Book, that @Branka-and-Silvia0 shared a few weeks ago now?
Thanks,
Lizzie

@Lizzie I am finding it under messages from people who have made Instant Book reservations (don't know if it appears in reservations not using IB), it appears to be something that Airbnb adds under the message. My check-in time is 13:00 or later, IF they make arrangements with me beforehand. But this message states their check-in time starts earlier.
Is it a feature that guests can use to state what time they want to arrive?
My concern is that they may think it's all set to come earlier, but in fact it is not. Many IB guests don't bother to respond to anything after they have made a reservation so I do not know if they even read my mesages saying that they cannot check-in before check-in time. It creates confusion and has the potential for annoyed, frustrated guests (and hosts) who turn up early expecting to check-in and the room is not ready.
Instead of guests being given the option to override the host's check-in time how about a box that says click here to "Contact Host to arrange/confirm arrival time"
Yes! I too have received this upsetting checkin information.
Adding injury to insult, many guests will check the early Noon checkin.
No matter their flight arrives at 6pm, they will choose the earliest option, because that is the best value for their money.
Yes I get the same thing now I have instant book turned on for the first time. My Check in is anytime after 2pm, and check out 11am. I need that window of time for the cleaner or myself to ready it for the next guest. If someone checks out at 11am, the room may not be ready by 12am. This hasnt been an issue as yet as guest have chosen to arrive later, but it could be. Needs fixing.
Thanks @Ange2, @Sue251, @Farah1, @Gillian19, @Paul154 for the extra information. Aw yes, I thought I recognised it!
I have now passed this feedback over to the team. If you could keep me updated on this and if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, please do let me know as it is all really helpful. 🙂
Thanks again and speak to you soon.

This is a huge issue and I've had conflicts with guest because of it. They ask why we accepted their booking when they put a preferred checkin time outside of our window. We explain to them that our listing and rules clearly state we cannot accommodate early checkins/late checkouts - it's a huge back and forth thing.
If a host wants to bend their rules for a guest and arrange something, let it take place in an inquiry between the host and guest (with communication). This whole silent feature of a guest selecting a preferred time outside of our schedule and allowing it to work that way, with zero communication of their expectations and reminder of our checkin times is unfair to both parties.
