North America - United States is not a Where To Option

I’m confused, why isn’t North American or United States a “Where To” option for the new launch (see photos)?

@Carrie454

It presents destinations by some algorithm, maybe based on your interests or previous searches ?

Or maybe makes a random selection ?

If i do the same, United States is there and also Middle East, but not South America or Mexico.

It is annyoing "flexible" is on by default. I would prefer standard (select dates) as the default and also those distracting "categories" only presented as a feature wich can be switched on and off.

Please Airbnb, provide a switch for "Airbnb Classic" or "Airbnb Theatre/Circus)"

The first map you see is the whole world including North America, @Carrie454, and the other maps are for places you're not in.  If you want to stay in North America, type in a place name, a state or a city or a river or something.  Or go to a category, choose "map," and center it on the US.

But you asked why, not how.  I don't know, but I guess it has something to do with imagination, bucket lists, destinations, hopes and dreams - whatever marketing gurus think leads to that be-all and end-all called "engagement."
